When you're in you're 2nd year of learning...

While I want to use the program as intended (always revising all of your words) I'm finding that since I know about 250-350 characters comfortably through predominantly non-Skritter study (and another 250 that I don't know comfortably), it will take considerable time before the program matches up to my current level. Therefore, I'm using custom chapter lists for now, which I know will make matters worse.

Is there a faster way, such as selecting a few hundred words and choosing a type of 'bulk understand' option so I can review them much less frequently without treating them all like new words? Ultimately, my needs right now are to revise the most recent 200/550 words while adding ~35 per week and I'm quite keen to use Skritter the most effective way possible :)

Is there a faster way to achieve this goal or will I have to go through all the old words before I can study my weekly new vocab?

Ps. I'm using iOS exclusively

Thank you!

Does it really hurt to refresh the words you already know?

BF27   March 19th, 2014 2:12a.m.

It's always good to refresh! I enjoy revising quite a lot, it's always beneficial. I also thought it'd be great if I could instantly view my first few hundred characters less often, mainly so I can use skritter to keep up with my new characters every week (instead of still being stuck on old ones for the next couple of weeks). I'm currently studying for medical school entrance exams in addition to a full time uni load, so time management is absolutely essential for me right now and revising chapter 1 characters is not my top priority this week. Having said that, I've already spent an hour on them today during my 'relaxation time' :)

I also thought perhaps since there are experienced people with 1000+ Characters under their belts before joining Skritter, maybe such a function already exists.

If not then that's okay! I'll enjoy revising them over the next few weeks :)

You could mark them as too easy.

What 本杰明 said! The "too easy" can be used when you've learned a word outside of Skritter for instance, and don't want the scheduling as soon. If you continually mark it too easy it will eventually be bumped off into SRS land.

If it's a writing prompt on iOS, you can just tap on the right side to mark it correct and move on (i.e. skip the card). This will get through the words very quickly. On iOS I don't usually mark writing prompts as "too easy" because it's so much hassle to pause the auto-advance (or go back a card) and change the grade. But definition and pronunciation prompts are quick to mark "too easy".

Also, I like to set the auto-advance to be as fast as possible.
