bizarre problem on study page

jww1066   May 4th, 2011 8:55a.m.

I was in reading mode and saw the character 他; I typed in ta1 and it marked it wrong, showing the following screen:

Why it should be looking for jiě2guoguo (whatever that means) or jie2guo3 is beyond me. So it looks like some kind of bug.

Note that I am in zh-es mode in case that matters. After I saw this I turned on the JavaScript console but saw no errors.

I just experienced a somewhat similar issue. When asked to write the character 支 based on the definition, it was not accepting my strokes so I pressed "show" and it showed 他 as the required character.

Something similar happen to me while studying Japanese. I sent the Skritter team an E-mail yesterday. I decided to turn off reading writing and definition for that word until I hear back from them. From the looks of it a little bit of the Kanji vocab has been corrupted and Skritter is showing the wrong Kanji for a few words now. So far it's only happened to one of my words. As far as I can tell that is. It was in a custom list I made. Were your words also from custom lists?

ddapore99   May 4th, 2011 9:19a.m.

By the way I was using the mobile Skritter site when it happened, were you guys also using the mobile site?

jww1066   May 4th, 2011 9:25a.m.

@ddapore99 I was reviewing everything, not studying a particular list. I don't remember where I added 结果 from, it was a long time ago. I was on a PC (Windows XP, Chrome 11.0.696.60, Flash 10.2.154.27)

bridget   May 4th, 2011 9:38a.m.

I probably added those characters from a custom list, but I was studying everything. Windows 7 PC.

I just had the definition and pinyin for 结果 pop up but it wanted me to write 他. So it seems to be a problem with that character? Very strange.

meihui   May 4th, 2011 10:59a.m.

I had the same problem today. When I was supposed to write 支 Skritter showed me 他 (reading and definition of 支, example sentence of 他). And when I tried to add a word containing the character 支 Skritter refused stating 支 is not in the database. I already sent Nick a mail about it.

Antimacassar   May 4th, 2011 11:03a.m.

I just got the same problem...

nick   May 4th, 2011 8:59p.m.

Scott just found and fixed the problem that was causing all those vocabs to get corrupted, and he reversed the damage on those vocabs. So let us know if you see any more of these, but I think we got them.

Thanks for the bug reports, guys!

Roland   May 5th, 2011 12:28a.m.

I just came across a similar one:也. In Baller it says under change history changed by Roland from .... to ....., which is correct. However, it doesn't show any definition under DE and when I looked it up in the my word list, it only had the English definition there. So even the previous German definition is gone.

ddapore99   May 5th, 2011 1:22a.m.

I'm so relieved you got that fixed. It was unnerving studying with an un reliable vocab lists.

scott   May 5th, 2011 6:53p.m.

Hi Roland, I've replaced the old definitions, haven't seen any other vocabs that were changed like that. I'll look into the baller to see if I can figure out how that could have happened, thanks for bringing that to our attention!
